I've been on a bit of a "Smashing Pumpkins" kick over the last few days and this video popped up on my Youtube recommendations despite only listening to them on Spotify. I swear these algorithms following everyone's footprints will never not be creepy. Anyway, I guess it worked out well because I was treated to the most 90's piece of 90's media ever constructed.
This ninety minute VHS set features a mix of live performances, acoustic renditions (Cherub Rock being a highlight), weird ass short films, interviews etc. It was certainly a lot more creative than your average concert tape and it's a wonderful time capsule to a bygone era. I don't have much more to add to this review,…

Probably not an item of tremendous interest unless one has a particular affinity for Siamese Dream era Smashing Pumpkins. If one has interest there's a ton of great stuff here. This is a compendium of mostly live performances from '92-'94, covering 3/4ths of Siamese Dream, one song from Gish, and several neat odds and ends that ended up on none of their albums proper.
Songs you know are often played in interesting alternate versions. We get an acoustic "Cherub Rock", an electric "Disarm", a dreamy version of "Mayonaise," and an absolutely crushing version of "Silverfuck". Billy Corgan's vocals, always an acquired taste, are often pretty rough here - though still compelling to my ears. The band rips - Corgan and…

TFW the most self-serious and pompous, yet prolific and talented ass of the 90s has 3 much cooler members in his band and you get this wholesome package of James, D’Arcy & Jimmy being funny, Billco being earnest and music that makes me teenage cream.
This is Golden Era SP.24 years later and I’m pretty sure they were trolling us with The Frogs.

Therapist Scene:
James: Tells a joke
D'Arcy: Tells a joke
Jimmy: Does a bit with stuffed animals
Billy: “You wanna go to the circus. And to get in to the circus, it costs you five pence. So, you stand in line, you don’t have five pence, but you really wanna go to the circus. So someone comes along and says: ‘well, I’ll take you in the circus and I’ll pay the five pence, but you gotta pay me back later’. So you get taken in the circus, they take you out, ‘oh, ok… well when are you gonna pay me back?’—’Oh, I don’t know, I’ll get around to it sooner or later’. That’s the story of the band.”Basically all you need to know about The Smashing Pumpkins.
Live Performances on this are great.
