Originally shot on the Arri Alexa camera system at near 4K resolution, 'John Wick' takes aim at Ultra HD with a gorgeous HEVC H. 265 encode in HDR10. At first glance, the jump to UHD seems minor, but the subtle differences over its HD counterpart are worthwhile and make this an excellent improvement.

You need an Ultra HD Blu-ray player to play Ultra HD Blu-ray discs. If you put an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc in your current (non-Ultra HD) Blu-ray player, it won't work.

4K Blu-ray discs offer advanced audio formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS-X that are rarely offered on earlier Blu-ray discs. These upgraded formats allow 4K Blu-ray discs to support up to 16 audio channels, and the more channels that are supported, the better sound quality that is delivered.

If you have an 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc, you can only play that on a 4K Blu-ray player. You might find that when you buy a Blu-ray disc it also comes with a regular DVD version to use with older players. Similarly, if you buy a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc it may also come with a Blu-ray version too.

So yes, despite the rumors you may have heard floating around, the human eye is capable of seeing the difference between a 1080p screen and a 4K screen. The most important factors to remember are the quality of your eyesight, the size of your screen and the distance you sit from that screen when watching it.

Whether you're connecting the player to a home theater receiver, sound bar, or directly to your TV, you'll need to make sure the inputs on your device are HDCP 2.2 compatible. If you don't have a 4K TV, you can still watch 4K Blu-rays on a 1080p TV, but obviously won't get the full effect.

And 4K discs (or streaming) are usually superior to Blu-Ray for those same movies. HD and 4K resolutions are much closer to the original theatrical experience than DVD/SD.

8K blurays will never arrive for one very good reason. There is not enough space on a bluray disk for an 8K movie. An ultra HD disk holds about 66GB of data. An 8K movie using the same compression scheme used today would need around 264 GB's thus you would need 4 disk to watch just one movie.

You can but tbo its probably the worst of the wick series. Don't get me wrong still ok but you're really doing yourself a disservice by not watching the first one.

The John Wick universe is a complex blend of gun violence, vague religious imagery, and some of the best dog actors around, and the fourth installment brought the action to a new level. Fresh score. John Wick: Chapter 4 really is a visual spectacular.

The hype ought to be believed here. The fourth John Wick is the best in the series, a massive triumph, ridiculous and over-the-top yet fully faithful to its own rules. It delivers a villain worthy of the best action franchises and cements the titular character as an icon on par with Jones, McClane, and Ripley.

Chapter 4 is resoundingly the best Wick sequel – but I still prefer cold-blooded efficiency over bloody excess, no matter how artfully and, at times, playfully staged. Content collapsed. Part of the movie's appeal can be traced to the class warfare on display.

If you want to see a movie filled with realistic fight scenes, don't pick John Wick 4. While the entire series is grounded in some sense of reality – there aren't any triple-backflip-corkscrew-flying-kicks or catching bullets in midair – it's a far cry from the realism similar action films like James Bond aim for.
