The Mudurnu Digital City Archive aims to gather all documentary material related to the history and the cultural and natural assets of Mudurnu city and its environs, and to provide a systematized compilation of this material for public access in order to learn about and promote these assets.
The Digital City Archive was initially launched on the occasion of the exhibition ‘Eyewitness from Anatolia: Mudurnu in the Early Republican Era through the Lens of Bengüboz’, which opened in April 2016 in Ankara, a part of which is the Bengüboz Online Collection, comprising the historic photographs of Mudurnu taken by Ahmet İzzet Bengüboz. The Bengüboz Online Archive forms the 1st Phase of the Mudurnu City Archive.
The Digital City Archive is also planned to serve as the research foundation for the preparation of the UNESCO World Heritage nomination file for ‘The Historic Guild Town of Mudurnu’
The Mudurnu City Council has authorised the Mayor of Mudurnu to sign a protocol with Mudurnu District Governorate (Mudurnu Public Education Directorate and Mudurnu Library Directorate ), Bolu Province Directorate for Culture and Tourism and Abant İzzet Baysal University, for the establishment within Mudurnu Muncipality of a ‘Mudurnu Research Center’ (MUMER) (see: City Council Decision).
